Data Center: GEOSHAKE

Name GEOSHAKE
Full Name GeoShake Data Center
Summary

GeoShake operates the data services for the GW network, a citizen seismic network of low-cost MEMS accelerometer stations hosted by private individuals.

All data is served anonymously under CC BY 4.0: no registration, no API key and no rate agreement. A public limit of 100 requests per 5 minutes per IP applies purely as abuse protection and is not an access restriction.

Two standard services are live: fdsnws-station (StationXML 1.1, including level=response with a nominal instrument sensitivity) and fdsnws-event (QuakeML 1.2). Real-time continuous and triggered waveforms are available over SeedLink at seedlink.geoshake.org:18000, and individual triggers can be downloaded as SAC from the station pages.

fdsnws-dataselect is not implemented yet, so this data centre cannot currently serve archived waveform windows through the standard FDSN route. We would rather leave the field empty than advertise an endpoint that returns 404.

Services
  • fdsnws-station-1: https://api.geoshake.org/fdsnws/station/1/
Metadata describing time series data (StationXML 1.1). level=response returns a nominal, datasheet-derived instrument sensitivity, not a per-unit calibration.
  • fdsnws-event-1: https://api.geoshake.org/fdsnws/event/1/
Event catalogue (QuakeML 1.2). Origins are published only when at least three stations associate; an empty result (HTTP 204) is normal.
  • seedlink-4: seedlink://seedlink.geoshake.org:18000
    SeedLink 3.1 & 4.0 real-time feed (RingServer 4.5.4): continuous 1 sps LNZ envelope and triggered ~110 sps ENZ/EN1/EN2 bursts
