FDSN Working Group III on Coordination of Products, Tools and Services

This group was established at the 2007 FDSN meeting in Perugia Italy.

FDSN WGIII will identify standard products that may be produced by FDSN data centers. It will advocate product uniformity and methods of production for FDSN products. It will advocate development and distribution of standard software tools that will support the production of FDSN products.

The goal of FDSN WGIII is to coordinate the creation of uniform products at participating FDSN data centers. It will also attempt to standardize services and share tools that produce FDSN approved products.

Attached is version 1.1 of the FDSN Web Service Specifications. Based on feedback, this final version contains the following changes from release candidate 1: * Add section describing WADL conventions. * Clarify that when the format parameter is not specified the default format must be returned. * Clarify that an HTTP 413 status shall be returned when either the request entity itself is too large or the resulting data set would be too large, the latter being an extension of the standard meani… [more]

Members of WG III There were no changes in functionality requested by WGIII. Chad has added some clarifications to the documentation of the various services motivated by comments received from the working group. The following items summarize these changes 2013/10/04 – 1.1 release candidate 1) Add description and clarification for the columns of the text formats for fdsnws-station and fdsnws-event. 2) Avoid ambiguity of required parameters by re-naming the appropriate column “Support” and … [more]

Dear All, I would like to recommend the following changes to the upcoming spec: fdsnws-event: ------------- - The limit parameter is still defined with a minimum of 0. Limiting the result set to zero elements makes no sense. Chad confirmed this in a mail from 24.04.2013: "Indeed the limit=0 case makes no sense, at IRIS we have also made this a minimum of 1." The SC3 implementation also enforces a minimum of 1. - SC3 provides the following additional parameters which s… [more]

Hello WG III members, As presented at the WG meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden, below is a list of FDSN web service additions proposed by the IRIS DMC. With the exception of the POST submission method to fdsnws-station, all of these changes are in production at the IRIS DMC. To provide further details and clarify how the changes would alter the specification, a draft version is attached with additions highlighted in red. We proposed that these additions to the 1.0 specification become version … [more]
