BCOO - STATION INSTRUMENTATION (2)

2. Seismic Research Observatory - SRO: [ SR ]

DATES OF OPERATION: 13 Mar 1978 to 11 Nov 1987.

SEISMOMETER TYPE:
Teledyne-Geotech Model KS-36000 borehole seismometer.

DIGITAL FORMAT:
16 bit gain-ranged data words for all components. Range: +2,096,128
to -2,097,152 counts.

EVENT DETECTOR ALGORITHIM:
The Murdock event detector (Murdock, 1983) was installed on 03 May 1983. Prior
to that time a detector developed by the Unitech Corp., Austin, Texas was used.
This detector was not documented.

This Noise Study was done using 1995 data and, consequently, it is only an estimation for this generation of station instrumentation.

COMMENTS:
A complete description of the SRO system can be found in Peterson et al. (1976).
Due to frequent violent thunderstorms in the area where the borehole seismometer
is installed, plus political problems in Columbia, there are many gaps in the
seismic data. The station became inoperative on 11 Nov 1987.
