| Description | This deployment will record mining-induced seismicity above the active panel of an operating longwall coal mine. The goal is an improved understanding of the seismicity to mitigate mine safety hazards. The year is included in the project name because we have recorded data there in the past and hope to in the future. The project is conducted as part of the Center to Advance the Science of Exploration to Reclamation in Mining (CASERM), a joint industry-university collaborative research center at the Colorado School of Mines and Virginia Tech. The Center is funded by the National Science Foundation and research is funded by consortium members from industry and government agencies. |
