| Description | A temporary nodal seismic experiment was carried out in July 2026 in and around the Haukadalur hydrothermal field, southern Iceland, as part of the SUBsurface pressure Modulation causing ERuptions of Strokkur GEyser (SUBMERGE) project. The deployment comprised 215 SmartSolo IGU-16HR 3C nodes with a natural frequency of 5 Hz, and 19 ETH IGU-16HR 3C nodes with a natural frequency of 2 Hz, owned by the University of Geneva. The multiscale network was designed for ambient noise tomography of the hydrothermal field and reconstruction of its velocity structure. The main objectives were to image the shallow hydrothermal system and possible bubble reservoirs, and to constrain their connections to the deeper heat source. |
