Description

Amusement parks are major sources of anthropogenic ground vibration due to the operation of roller coasters and other mechanically driven attractions. While roller coaster engineering is well understood and the acoustic environment around amusement parks has been investigated previously, the ground vibration, i.e., seismic noise, generated by these thrill rides remains largely unexplored. To address this data gap, we investigated seismic noise at Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in Jackson Township, New Jersey, USA, by deploying 3-component nodal seismometers at eight sites around the park for one month.
