FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 3L (2025-2030) Network name Temporary seismic network for monitoring rapid erosion processes in mountain catchments (UNREST)
Start year 2025 Operated by
End year 2030 Deployment region -
Description

The aim of this seismic network is to monitor surface processes, such as landslides and floods, associated with rapid erosion dynamics in mountainous catchments. The deployments are designed to capture a wide range of seismic signals generated by geomorphic processes including landslides (e.g., rockfalls and debris flows), sediment transport, and hydrologically driven processes.

Dense seismic measurements carried out between 2025 and 2030 using SmartSolo 5 Hz three-component nodes are supported by the ERC Starting Grant project UNREST: UNveiling dynamics of Rapid Erosion through advanced Seismic Techniques (PI: M. Chmiel, Géoazur, CNRS). Data shared under this network code may also include spatially and temporally subsampled distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) datasets acquired during specific experimental deployments.
