Description

POCURO-II extends the POCURO pilot experiment -network 22 (2023-2024)- on the crustal seismicity of the Cariño Botado and Los Andes faults, in the Pocuro Structural System (Andes Cordillera, Central Chile). This system is the northern extension of the San Ramón fault system, which is monitored in the Santiago area by the permanent stations of the National Seismic Center (CSN, network C1). The 3-month pilot showed abundant shallow seismicity associated with these faults and confirmed the feasibility of a larger study. This second phase extends acquisition to 9 months with 12 short period temporary stations, in order to build a more complete seismicity catalog and better constrain fault geometry and activity rates, focal mechanisms, and fault geometries.
Instruments are 12 DiGOS DATA-CUBE3 dataloggers, with 6PE 3 component geophones.
