FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 2E (2010-2011) Network name Seismic Coherence and Site Effect Studies at Precarious Rock Locations in Riverside, California (Seismic Coherence/SCEC)
Start year 2010 Operated by
  • USGS Caltech, Pasadena, United States of America
End year 2011 Deployment region
Description

This study will resolve the site effects and seismic coherency of hard rock sites that are near Precariously Balanced Rocks (PBRs). The objective is to determine whether the PBRs are located in regions of anomalously low ground motion and to determine coherency across a rock site using data from local earthquakes recorded on short period seismometers. We will deploy the station in three rings around a PBR, one at 25 m, one at 50 m, and one at 100m
