Description

A seismological experiment at Piton de la Fournaise, La Reunion, was realized by Eva Eibl (University of Potsdam) in collaboration with Christophe Brunet (OVPF). Piton de la Fournaise features effusive eruptions. The aim of the seismic experiment was to monitor effusive eruption tremor using a seismic array in combination with a rotational sensor from 11 October 2022 using seven broadband seismic stations (Nanometrics Trillium Compact 120 s) and a blueSeis-3A rotational sensor (exail). Sensors were installed on solid lava flow surfaces. Within this time period one eruption occurred in July-August 2023. From this dataset, converted to MSEED using Pyrocko, the VT events and eruption tremor was further investigated in Vesely et al. (in prep.).
