FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 1R (2026-2027) Network name Seismo Acoustic Study of Rocket Launches from Kennedy Space Center (Rocket Seis)
Start year 2026 Operated by
  • University of South Florida (USF), United States of America
End year 2027 Deployment region -
Description

Between February 2016 to December 2022, a sparse and variable seismic and infrasound monitoring network was operated at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) to record ground motion and atmospheric pressure signals generated by rocket launches. This dataset is available as 1R 2016-2022. In January 2026 a new 10-station seismic network was deployed by USF in collaboration with NASA Marshall Space Center, and New Mexico Tech. Funding is being sought to expand this to a large-N seismic and infrasound network.
