FDSN Network Information

FDSN code Z8 (2013-2015) Network name Dense Virtual Seismic Array at Pacaya (Pacaya1314)
Start year 2013 Operated by
  • Michigan Technological University (MTU), United States of America
End year 2015 Deployment region
Description

Our goal is do generate a set of recordings for a dense network of stations to study structure and source processes of strombolian eruption activity, tremor, and long-period earthquakes at Pacaya volcano. Because installing and maintaining 80 stations is extremely challenging, we will record at 80 sites using 20 stations and moving a subset each day in a manner we have had success with elsewhere. For repetitive events, we will combine recordings at all sites for dense, 80-station records.
