FDSN Network Information

FDSN code Z6 (2009-2010) Network name Forsyth Deployment near the South Shatsky Fracture Zone (PLATE)
Start year 2009 Operated by
  • UC San Diego, United States of America
End year 2010 Deployment region
Description

Two arrays of 8 instruments each designed to study the lithosphere and asthenosphere structure beneath some of the oldest seafloor in the western Pacific. Ocean bottom seismometers deployed for one year in a passive experiment. We will be using surface wave tomography, shear wave splitting, and receiver function analysis to model the upper mantle structure.
