FDSN Network Information

FDSN code YN (1999-2004) Operated by Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL)
Network name Seismic Experiment in Patagonia and Antarctica (SEPA (II)) Deployment region United States
Start date Jan. 1, 1999 End date Dec. 31, 2004
Short description

5 stations were installed in Chilean Patagonia and 5 stations in the Antarctic Peninsula region. 3 of the Antarctic stations are located at Chilean bases. The goals of the experiment are to determine whether current subduction is occurring at the S. Shetland trench; study the upper mantle structure of the Bransfield Strait backarc region; determine whether anisotropy indicates mantle flow around South America
