Network name | Water storage and routing within glaciers via planar voids, a new model of glacier hydrology (Bench Glacier) | Deployment region | United States of America |
Start date | Jan. 1, 2007 | End date | Dec. 31, 2007 |
Short description |
Seismic interferometry to extract Green functions between receivers RefTek 130 acquisition systems will be recording continuously in a grid ( 1000mX1000m) covering the cross section of the Bench Glacier. rock falls from the surrounding moutains, water traveling in and under the glacier bed provide seismic energy to image the interior of the glacier. These passive source data will be used in conjunction with an active source, high resolution 3D survey intended to image the internal conduits and fractures within the glacier that control water movement from the surface to the bed of the glacier. |
