FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XU (1999-2000) Operated by Institute of Geological and Nuclear Science (GNS - New Zealand)
Network name Trans-Antarctic (TAM9900) Deployment region New Zealand
Start date Jan. 1, 1999 End date Dec. 31, 2000
Short description

A temporary 10-station broadband seismometer array was located in the Trans-Antarctic Mountains, Ross Sea region, Antarctica over the 1999-2000 austral summer, in order to detect and characterize seismic activity in the Trans-Antarctic Mountains. A total of 160 events were located, of which about 50% were located in the vicinity of the David Glacier. Some of the results from this experiment are described in "Terra Antarctica, 2002, v9, p41-46"
