FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XQ (2015-2016) Network name Rapid response to the Mw 7.9 earthquake of April 25, 2015 in Nepal (RAPID: Nepal Earthquake)
Start year 2015 Operated by
  • Oregon State University (OSU), United States of America
End year 2016 Deployment region
Description

This request is for a rapid response following the Mw 7.9 earthquake of April 25, 2015 in Nepal. The goal is to deploy a 20-station network in the greater epicentral area of the mainshock to record its aftershocks. We expect to operate the network for full 6 months after its deployment is completed. This experiment will combine geodetic and seismological observations. PASSCAL data from this project will be released to the public within 1 month after the array is uninstalled.
