FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XL (2008-2011) Operated by University of Colorado Boulder (CU)
Network name Collaborative Research: Dynamic controls on tidewater glacier retreat (Columbia Gl/CU Boulder) Deployment region United States
Start date Jan. 1, 2008 End date Dec. 31, 2011
Short description

We will deploy a single instrument at the glacier terminus, at previously occupied site BBB, to monitor iceberg claving activity using methods we established in the original Columbia glacier project. Additional measurements are also being performed including ice-pentrating radar, vertical aerial photography, time-lapse photography, surveys of ice motion, hydro acoustic measurements and weather monitoring. Our goal is to continue developing understanding of dynamic instability at marine terminating glaciers.
