The Seismological Association of Australia Inc (SAA) is a voluntary organisation of both amateur and professional seismologists and is entirely self funded. In 2017 25 seismic stations together with data dating back to 1995 was transferred to SAA when the State operated seismological department closed. SAA continues to operate those seismic stations together with a high grade seismological observatory and 15 seismic stations owned by amateures, using short period and broadband sensors and one tiltmeter. SAA promotes seismology in schools and to the general public, conducts research and publishes a newsletter.
