Description

Over the past 30 years of SISMALP observation, analysis of earthquakes along the Belledonne Border Fault (BBF) has revealed a deficit in seismicity on a segment between La Combe de Lancey and Pontcharra. The COVID-19 crisis and the lowering of noise levels at monitoring stations have revealed activity on this segment, made up of low-magnitude earthquakes that are difficult to detect in normal situations with the current network configuration. This deficit raises questions about the microseismic activity of this segment, its current coupling and the local seismic hazard (i.e., maximum magnitude and occurrence). The aim of this temporary network, composed of ~7 low-cost seismic stations, is to increase our monitoring capacity in this segment.
