FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 5H (2021-2023) Network name FURTHER seismic network
Start year 2021 Operated by
End year 2023 Deployment region -
Description

The FURTHER seismic network is a temporary network installed in the Southern Apennines seismic belt (Italy). The survey area (about 30x30 km2) surrounds the Mefite D’Ansanto deep CO2 degassing site, located at the northern tip of the faults activated during the M6.9 1980 Irpinia earthquake.
The network is composed of 10 temporary stations recording in continuous mode (Reftek-130), equipped with short-period velocimeters (LE-3D/5S) and powered by solar panels.
The aim is to investigate the microseismicity pattern and to develop an understanding of the relationship among seismicity, crustal fluids and physical-hydraulic properties of the crust.
