Description

The Xinfengjiang (XFJ) DAS array is located northwest of the Xinfengjiang Water Reservoir in South China, installed by the Geophysics team from the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China.

The surface cable has 4 standard single-mode fibers and is 3 km long, of which 2 km is buried at about 20 cm depth for good coupling along the shoreline of the reservoir. The geometry of the cable mostly follows the shape of the shoreline.

We connected a Silixa iDAS-MG to one fiber for DAS measurement. The recording started on Feb 1, 2023 and ended on Feb 19, 2023.

The DAS unit measured fiber strain rate at a sampling rate of 400 Hz, a channel spacing of 1 m, and a gauge length of 10 m. The global M>5 data were downsampled to 100 Hz in time and decimated to ~20 m channel spacing. The Feb 14 2023 continuous day recording was downsampled to 50 Hz in time and decimated to the same array size as the global event data.
