FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 4E (2010-2011) Network name MARS/Testing of cabled broadband OBS using MARS test facility (MARS)
Start year 2010 Operated by
  • UC San Diego
End year 2011 Deployment region United States of America
Short description

Built and deployed a broadband OBS based on a Q330 data logger and a Trillium 40 seismometer which was deployed on the seafloor next to the Monterey Accelerated Research System (MARS). The experiment was designed to simulate future cabled deployments, using NTP based timing, and to evaluate noise properties of the system, and data telemetry quality.
