FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 3C (2010-2011) Operated by Central Washington University
Network name Collaborative Proposal: Glacier seismicity and its relationship to basal motion (Norway Glacier/CWU) Deployment region United States
Start date Jan. 1, 2010 End date Dec. 31, 2011
Short description

The PIs propose to locally induce rapid glacier slip, measure it directly at the bed, and study the seismic expression of that slip. This work can be accomplished only at the Svartisen Ice Cap in Norway, where tunnels in subglacial rock provide unusual access to the bed of a thick sliding glacier.
