FDSN Network Information

FDSN code 3B (2014-2014) Operated by Cornell University
Network name Reflection imaging using railroad noise as seismic source (Belen Reflection Test) Deployment region United States
Start date May 27, 2014 End date June 3, 2014
Short description

The is a small test of the viability of using railroad noise as the source of seismic energy for p wave refraction and reflection imaging of the subsurface using seismic interferometry. These results are desired to inform a proposal now in development which is based on applying this speculative methodology.
