Temporary continuously recording broadband seismic network to study hydrothermal tremor and deformation associated with eruption of Lone Star Geyser at Yellowstone National Park, WY, USA. The geyser erupts every ~3 hours. The sensors were Nanometrics Trillium P/PA (corner 120 s) with Taurus dataloggers that recorded at 250 Hz at distances of ~10-30 m from the geyser vent. The data were recorded for 3-4 days. Since soil excavation and contamination are not permitted at the field site, we first placed ceramic tiles on pouches filled with a mixture of plaster of Paris and water. The sensors were placed over the tiles, leveled and centered. The hardening of the plaster of Paris over time along with the weight of the sensor provided reasonable coupling to the silica sinter underneath the sensors. We placed styrofoam boxes with walls ~5 cm thick over the sensors for thermal insulation and wind isolation. The data recorded during the day are contaminated by other field operations.
