1. On the issue of the CTBTO providing free and open access to data, previous letters by FDSN President Fukao to Ola Dalhman, Chairman of WGB, and Ambassador Hoffmann, Executive Secretary, CTBTO, were met with polite responses to effect that the PTSÕs hands are tied until WGB provides the proper guidance. All FDSN participants should pressure their delegates to WGB to come to grips with this issue. Meanwhile, it was agreed that we should continue to send letters, at least annually, to keep the issue front and centre. Finally, it was noted that as individual States Parties may distribute their own data freely, perhaps the FDSN could request from its participants those types of data that would augment its current holdings: seismic arrays, hydroacoustic stations/arrays, etc.
2. On the issue of the CTBTO joining the FDSN, it was generally agreed that this would simply not happen, and was not worth pursuing further.
3. The PTS was looking for a network operator to adopt the proposed new IMS auxiliary station on the island of New Britain, Papua New Guinea. This was discussed among the GSN, Geoscope, and Geophon communities, with the result was that nobody is interested at this time.
A formal letter to this effect should be sent to the IMS.
4. On the issue of shared use of the CTBTOÕs Global Communication Infrastructure, Rhett Butler announced that the GSN has quietly entered into discussions with the PTS. Slow and steady seems to be the best approach.
5. It was agreed that we should invite Dr. Florence Riviere, IDC Coordinator replacing Steve Bratt, to take his place on WG4.
